About
Phase Two

Phase Two staff are experts in the fields of research, strategic planning, and implementation support. We are teachers, writers, researchers, change-makers, and lifelong students. We do not shy away from the hard conversations. We are committed to making higher education live up to its promise of a more equitable, economically-just future.

We sit in between what the research says and what the leaders on the ground do.

Every engagement with Phase Two is unique. We tailor our strategy to ensure the success of each partner with whom we work. Through workshops, providing learning curricula, focused research, comprehensive reform planning and/or implementation support, we help higher education leaders and practitioners build their capacity and accelerate their institutional transformation efforts. Our wealth of experience enables us to craft unique strategies that work best with each organization's distinct culture and resources.

Guided by Equity

Our work is focused on building a more equitable future. We start by understanding that "equity", from our perspective, is a process by which campus practices, programs, and mindsets shift such that students’ educational experiences and outcomes are not predetermined by their racial, economic, or social background. We are particularly focused on ensuring that our equity work supports the many different students for whom higher education was not designed, including but not limited to those who are Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian-Pacific Islander, as well as students who are low-income, first-generation college-going, part-time, differently-abled, LGBTQ+, gender expansive, parenting, foster care-involved, military-connected, or justice-impacted.
